Sonic Hires Evans As New Division VP

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Oct. 15, 2004) -- Sonic Automotive has hired James Evans as vice president for its Western region.
In the position, Evans is responsible for oversight of operations for four of Sonic's regional platforms in Northern California, Southern California, Las Vegas and Denver.
"Jim Evans is a rare operational talent in our industry, and we are delighted that he has chosen to join our company," said Jeffrey Rachor, Sonic's president and chief operating officer.
"Jim's extensive experience in operating large, multiple, dealership configurations with both public and private consolidators, along with his knowledge of the California markets, makes him uniquely qualified to drive improved results in our Western division," Rachor concluded.
Prior to joining Sonic, Evans was employed by AutoNation as district president for the company's Northwest district. Furthermore, Evans has held leadership positions with UnitedAuto Group, Ford Investment Enterprises Corp. and FirstAmerica Automotive.
