LONDON, Ontario — Offering as much history about a used vehicle as possible can be vital to instilling faith in shoppers and increasing the chance of a sale.
With this in mind, CarProof announced it is working with Honda Canada and JMsolutions to help used dealers build trust with consumers by providing greater transparency.
Beginning with the Honda Canada partnership, officials explained that a CarProof history report is now required to qualify vehicles for both the Honda Certified Used Vehicle program and Acura's pre-owned Certified Performance program.
Moreover, Honda Canada Finance will utilize CarProof reports to pre-screen and qualify Honda and Acura off-lease vehicles before they are put on sale
"Dealers know they're giving full transparency to their customers. They know their purchasers aren't going to find any more information than what's in a CarProof report," Paul Antony, president of CarProof, told Auto Remarketing Canada. "It allows a dealer to asses the value of a car for what it's really worth, not what they wish the trade-in value was."
Arch Wilcox, vice president of auto sales at Honda Canada, added: "We want to provide buyers of our certified used Honda and Acura vehicles peace of mind, knowing the full history of the vehicle."
As many in the industry are aware, CarProof history reports provide a vehicle's lien information, branding information from all provinces, import records, insurance records, auction records, chronology, some service records and full history in U.S. (if any).
Moreover, Antony said that CarProof's reports are the only ones available for consumers that provide insurance information in dollar amount, lien claims and branding in all provinces.
"It provides this transparency and ultimately allows the consumer to feel like they're buying with confidence," he added. "Earning the trust of the consumer is a big thing for manufacturers and dealers. Once you build trust, it's easier to sell."
Antony estimated that 15 percent of the vehicles on the road in Canada have insurance claims on them or have been in accident. So obviously, when this information is made public, it reduces the value of these models.
"But we also know it's building confidence and allowing them to maximize the dollars they get on the 85 percent (with no claims)," Antony stated.
Moving on, Antony further discussed the Honda Canada Finance program.
"When (leasing companies) are taking vehicles back off lease, they're learning as much information as they can before selling the vehicle," Antony added.
"The benefit of that is that it reduces the need for arbitration. It basically allows the captive lease company to sell vehicles and once it's sold, it's sold."
Ultimately, Antony indicated that the benefit of CarProof is about instilling consumer confidence by providing as much information as possible.
"Our mission at CarProof is to bring greater transparency into the used-car market by providing both the consumer and the automotive industry with the tool that enables due diligence and full disclosure," said Antony. "We are very pleased by the fact that world-class manufacturers like Honda and Acura are using CarProof to further enhance their CPO programs and screen their off-lease vehicles."
CarProof, JMsolutions Strike Deal
In other news from CarProof, JMsolutions, a dealer-focused auto technology company, announced that is providing its AAX suite of inventory management solutions to Canadian dealers, who can now use the system to run CarProof reports
Essentially, AAX enables dealers to optimize their entire used-vehicle inventories by providing appraisal, stocking, pricing, trading recommendations and more.
"We're excited to be able to respond to dealers' requests to provide AAX to the Canadian dealer base," commented Scot Eisenfelder, group vice president of JMsolutions. "With the added benefit of CarProof, Canadian dealers using AAX can quickly and easily pull a vehicle history report from within the AAX system.
"This allows dealers to make better, knowledge-backed pricing decisions on vehicles being appraised while also providing their clients with the confidence that comes with a clean vehicle history report," he added.
To access CarProof through the AAX system, a dealer simply clicks the CarProof logo from the Vehicle Detail Screen and is directed to choose the desired report. Within a few seconds, the report is generated from CarProof and is sent back to AAX and displayed for the dealer's and customer's use.
"We're always looking to identify ways to further help our dealers," Antony added. "Aligning CarProof with the JMsolutions AAX product gives dealers greater accessibility to our reports when they're needed most — at the time of the appraisal when the customer is making a buying decision. It's a natural fit and extension of what we do."
