ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. — In order to highlight the automakers that grab consumers' attention the most, NADAguides.com recently announced its Top 5 Most Researched Car Brands of 2008.
Shoppers appeared to be interested in models from Honda, Toyota, Ford, Chevrolet and Nissan in 2008, according to NADAguides.com, which based its list on the amount of consumer research done per quarter for models within each brand.
"The most researched car category not only identifies the top cars consumers are most interested in, but also provides automakers with a clear roadmap of what consumers are looking to buy," indicated Mike Caudill, spokesperson for NADAguides.com.
"The dramatic fluctuations in fuel prices and changing economic climate in 2008 were clearly reflected in the vehicles consumers clicked on," he added. "Some vehicles remained at the top while others dropped in ranking."
Among individual models, the Honda Accord generated the most shopper research for almost the entire year. Honda's Civic Sedan (No. 6) and CR-V (No. 3) were also popular, giving the brand three vehicles in the top 10.
Finishing just behind the Accord was the Nissan Altima in second place.
Toyota, meanwhile, featured eight models in the top 20 most-researched rides, including the Camry at No. 5.
