MENLO PARK, Calif. — In April, auction prices showed year-over-year improvements in all vehicle segments except for cars, according to the latest OPENLANE Price Index.
While car values climbed from their March levels, the segment was down 4 percentage points from April 2008.
"We should recall that pricing in the spring/summer of 2008 was driven up greatly by oil prices," officials emphasized.
Meanwhile, minivans were even compared to March, but improved 7 percentage points from a year ago. SUV pricing jumped 3 percentage points from the previous month and were up 2 points from April 2008.
Truck values gained 8 percentage points versus last year, but experienced a "slight decrease" from March.
Moving on to discuss dealer interest, OPENLANE noted that trucks were the only segment to show a month-over-month gain.
Dealer interest in the segment improved 8 percentage points from March, but remained slightly below year-ago levels.
Cars were relatively steady from last month, but were down 4 percentage points year-over-year.
Minivans showed a 5-point gain from April 2008, but dipped 2 points from March.
Finally, dealer interest in SUVs climbed 7 percentage points from last year and were off 1 point from the previous month.
