Flint AA Commemorates Anniversary

FLINT, Mich. — Flint Auto Auction celebrated its 56th anniversary late last month with a special sales event that included more than 1,800 vehicles, prize drawings and free ice cream to all attendees.

More than 1,000 dealers attended the anniversary sale to bid on 150 vehicles from GMAC, 250 models from Avis/Budget Group, 600 units from Chrysler Financial and a dealers consignment of 800 units.

In early June, the auction began preparing for the event by putting $1 for every vehicle sold into a jackpot. Each time a dealer bought or sold a vehicle, their name was added to the pot.

Then, when the anniversary sale wrapped up, two winning names were drawn as one buyer and one seller split the $4,000 jackpot that was built up throughout the month.

Winning the grand prize were Jay Stratton, owner of Stratton Auto Sales, and Walter Williams, owner of Diversified Auto.

Additionally, dealers who bought Chrysler Financial vehicles during the day qualified for a drawing of $500 cash and a Boyne Mountain golf getaway.

"We had a great day of buying and selling, and lots of fun at our anniversary sale," stated auction co-owner Bill Williams.

"We served over 300 cinnamon rolls in less than an hour, served ice cream to each customer, gave away more than $5,000 in cash and prizes, and sold 900 cars and trucks," he continued.

"Being able to celebrate 56 years in business is a milestone for Flint, but, more importantly, it was our opportunity to thank our customers for their support over the years," he added.

"It is their loyalty that has contributed to our success and longevity, and we planned this event as an opportunity to celebrate together at Flint Auto Auction," Williams noted.
