SANTA MONICA, Calif. -

The best car on the market? The answer is probably different for most people. But Edmunds.com has put together a list that could help dealers point out some of the best picks on the market these days to potential customers.

The site revealed Thursday a list of what its editors see as the 17 best cars on the lots today. Ranging from the 2013 Mini Cooper to the 2013 Bentley Continental GTC, Edmunds has picked the "top dog" in each vehicle segment.

"This list answers a question that we get all the time: If you could pick any car in a given segment, and money wasn't an issue, what car would you choose?" says Edmunds.com automotive editor James Riswick. "Sure, many of the cars on this list cost a pretty penny, but guess what? It usually costs more to get the best."

Fourteen brands made it onto the elite list. Toyota and Honda led the pack with three and two vehicles on the list, respectively.
