SANTA MONICA, Calif. -
Although TrueCar.com projects New Year’s Eve to be the most ideal day this month to make a vehicle purchase based on potential discounts available, it’s pretty crowded at the top. In looking at the days of December expected to have the heftiest possible MSRP reductions, TrueCar found that the top 10 are all within one percentage point of each another.
There is expected to be potential discount of 8.2 percent on Dec. 31, with Dec. 30 coming in second at 8.1 percent. At No. 3 is Dec. 29 with a potential 7.9-percent price cut. Dec. 21 was next on the list (at 7.8 percent), followed by Dec. 28 and Dec. 17, each of which are likely to come in at a 7.7 percent discount.
Seventh was Dec. 18 (7.6 percent), with Dec. 22 (7.5) followed by Dec. 9 and Dec. 23 (both at 7.3 percent) rounding out the list.
“The last few month of new cars sales have been strong relative to this year and this could be a December to remember as manufacturers are looking to end the year off on a strong note,” explained Jesse Toprak, TrueCar’s vice president of industry trends and insights.
“There will be plenty of deals as dealers are looking to hit their quotas, but consumers need to have researched and prepared before hitting the dealership lots,” he added.

Continuing along, the company is offering a new feature on the TrueCar Blog in light of December often being a top month for buying vehicles.
The 31 Days of Cool Cars and Hot Savings feature showcases different nationwide deals each day of the month. The range of deals is varied in terms of transaction type as well as segment type.
On Wednesday, for instance, the blog was spotlighting offers available on the 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Regular Cab, the 2011 Ford Flex SEL with Ecoboost and the 2011 Mitsubishi Endeavor LS.
