ATLANTA -

Cox Automotive has a new chief financial officer.

Starting Monday, Mark Bowser will be executive vice president and CFO, while also heading up the finance and strategy teams, NextGear Capital and other corporate functions.

Bowser has been with parent company Cox Enterprises since 2006 and most recently was CFO with Cox Communications.

“I have seen Mark in action during his tenure as CFO of Cox Communications,” Cox Automotive president Sandy Schwartz said in a news release.

“He has been a valuable member of the leadership team and his expertise and fiscal discipline have been primary reasons for the consistently outstanding performance of that business,” Schwartz said. “He is a strategic financial leader who will help Cox Automotive continue to strengthen our performance and position the business for long-term success in a fast-changing industry.”

Bowser has led the following for Cox Communications the past nine years: accounting and financing planning and analysis; mergers and acquisitions; and programing. He also managed the Cox Business and Cox Media divisions.

His first post with Cox was as vice president of Cox Business, where he led Cox Communications’ commercial services division.

Bowser’s time before Cox Enterprises includes time with Dell, Sprint and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Interestingly enough, the FBI was the first stop in his career. In that job, he investigated white-collar crime.
