TORONTO, Ontario — Not only in June did Mercedes-Benz Canada record its best-ever sales month; it capped off the top quarter and half-year in the company's history.

Not to mention, June was the strongest used-vehicle sales month of all time for Mercedes-Benz Canada and was part of the best-ever quarter and half-year on the used side.

Furthermore, on the new-car side, the month was the No. 1 June that Mercedes-Benz Canada has had, and also closed the most successful quarter and half-year for new sales, as well.

Specifically, the total number of Mercedes-Benz and smart units sold reached 3,109 vehicles. Second quarter sales were 9,200 vehicles, as June's numbers went along with record numbers from April and May.

As for the first six months of 2010, the company has seen a 20.9-percent uptick from last year's pace.

Looking at the Mercedes-Benz brand, in particular, there were 2,758 units moved during June, good for the top-selling month of all time. So far this year, the brand's sales have climbed 19.4 percent.

Included in the vehicles that helped push June's strong performance were the B-Class, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, SL-Class, GLK-Class, M-Class and GL-Class units.

The GLK-Class, in particular, had its top month ever (720 vehicles sold) and was up 27.7 percent in sales year-over-year.

The E-Class also saw its best-ever month.

Delving into pre-owned sales specifically, there were 1,099 sales for the month, a 27.8-percent gain from the year-ago period. So far in 2010, pre-owned sales have climbed 29.3 percent.

"The mid-year point is a natural time to look back at our overall sales performance, and I am very proud that we have continued to shatter previous sales records and reported sustained growth across our entire model range," stated Marcus Breitschwerdt, Mercedes-Benz Canada's president and chief executive officer.

"These multiple record-breaking results represent a significant milestone for our company, and I am profoundly grateful to our employees and dealers for their hard work and commitment to consistently exceed customer expectations," he added. "Our collective ambition to lead the luxury segment remains steadfast as we enter the second half of this year."
