FRANKLIN, Tenn. -

A quarter-century is a long time, and ServNet leaders believe they’ve made the most of those years. Now, as two longtime board members prepare to step down, they reflect on the group’s growth.

“In observing our 25th anniversary year, we have with great pride recognized ServNet’s tremendous growth since its founding in 1988,” said president R. Charles Nichols, who will conclude his two-year term in October.

“While meeting with customers and industry leaders throughout the year, we have had many occasions to review our history and mark the progress we have made both in terms of numbers and market share,” Nichols said.

Jeff Brasher, outgoing ServNet board chairman, agrees. Brasher rotates off the board this fall after eight years of combined service as director, vice president, president and chairman.

“We feel that one of the greatest measures of our success as a group is ServNet’s organic growth, due to expansions from within our membership,” said Brasher.

“During my term of service on ServNet’s board, the auction industry has faced one of the most challenging economic periods in our history. Yet, ServNet owners took advantage of those difficult market conditions to expand, growing our numbers from within with very successful new auction locations,” he said.

Founded in 1988 with 10 auctions, ServNet is now 32 members strong with locations nationwide.

Eleven locations have been added since 2010, Brasher notes, five of them a result of owners developing new auction properties.

They include Sparkling City Auto Auction of San Antonio in November 2010; EPI El Paso in January 2011; Brasher’s San Jose Auto Auction in June 2011; Sanford Auto Dealers Exchange and Cocoa Auto Dealers Exchange in March 2011; Ocala Auto Dealer’s Exchange in January 2013; and DAA Seattle in June 2013.

“It is exciting to observe ServNet’s performance in the marketplace,” said Brasher. “ServNet has recorded significant gains in market share, notably with accounts like General Motors, Ally and GSA. ServNet owners have consistently demonstrated their ability to buck industry trends, and as a group we have continued to grow, developing from within as well bringing in new locations.”

Nichols added, “As Jeff and I have served together on ServNet’s board, we have been pleased to trace ServNet’s continued influence in the marketplace. The group’s entrepreneurial efforts, strong capitalization and commitment to the industry spur its ongoing success.”
