SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio — A violent crime reportedly committed in northeast Ohio is proving again how dangerous the repossession business can be.

The U.S. Marshal's Office and two local police departments have a reward available in connection with the search for a woman who, among her long list of charges, allegedly conspired with two other men to assault a recovery agent.

Authorities last week categorized the suspect as their "Fugitive of the Week," an initiative orchestrated by the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force. They're seeking Katherine Griffin, who they now believe is somewhere in a section on the west side of Cleveland.

Back in 2007, Griffin and two other male subjects severely beat and robbed a recovery agent who was going to repossess her vehicle, according to law enforcement reports. Authorities indicated the assault prevented the agent from recovering the unit and allowed the suspects to flee.

Not only does the Shaker Heights Police Department want Griffin for failing to appear on an assault charge, but the Mayfield Heights Police Department has felony larceny charges against her. Furthermore the U.S. Marshals are looking for her in connection with a federal probation violation stemming from a bank fraud conviction.

Anyone who might have information in reference to Griffin is asked contact the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force at (866) 4-WANTED. Tipsters can remain anonymous, and reward money is available. More details are available here
