CARMEL, Ind. -

As part of its three-day sales event in celebration of the new auction facility, ADESA Las Vegas held a ribbon-cutting on Oct. 13.

North Las Vegas Mayor Shari Buck, local dignitaries and auction customers joined the company for the ceremony.

ADESA president and chief executive officer Tom Caruso expressed his gratitude for all who supported the company during the opening sale: “Thank you to everyone for supporting our official ribbon-cutting at ADESA Las Vegas. It was an exciting sale, and the turnout was phenomenal.”

In addition to the ribbon-cutting, the festivities also included an element of charity.

Caruso, a charter member of the Massachusetts National Independent Automobile Dealers Association, had the idea to include a charity component to the ribbon-cutting festivities, officials noted; and as a result, attendees were treated to a special charity auction.

The winning bid of $8,000 for a 2010 Harley-Davison Sportster was donated to NIADA charities.

“The NIADA Foundation has a wonderful scholarship and education program,” Caruso said. “It is important that we continue to support an association that does so much for our industry.”

The company also noted that more than double the regular bid badge count attended the three-day sale, including a large amount of online bidders.

“My team really pulled together to create an amazing ribbon-cutting event for our customers,” said ADESA Las Vegas general manager Theo Jelks. “I want to thank them for their dedication and team work, and to thank our customers for their business.”

This three-day event included both open and closed consignor sales, as well as an auction open house and specialty auction.

Highlighting the auction site itself, ADESA Las Vegas is built on 47 acres, located just minutes north of the Las Vegas strip.

It offers full detailing capabilities, complete reconditioning services, a body shop and a mechanic shop.

The auction— located at 1000 E. Gowan Road — will host a weekly sale every Thursday with vehicles from national consignors and local dealers, officials noted.
