SANTA MONICA, Calif. -

On Monday, TrueCar officially rolled out its ClearBook.com used-vehicle value index, a tool it says gives dealers and consumers a detailed picture of the entire used-car market’s behavior.

ClearBook creates a used-vehicle price report for dealers and shoppers after analyzing millions of used-vehicle listings by year, make, model, mileage and condition.

The site aims to “objectively identify the parameters of a fair deal for both buyer and seller.”

“The only way to objectively understand what your car is really worth is by understanding real market behavior,” said TrueCar founder and chief executive officer Scott Painter.

“ClearBook solves this problem by aggregating and presenting this data in a way that has never been possible or attempted before,” he added.

The company plans to offer transaction and wholesale pricing data in ClearBook in future editions.
