McLEAN, Va. -

Though wholesale prices are expected to continue falling this week, once again, the large pickup segment is telling a different story.

According to NADA Used Car Guide, large pickup prices are expected to rise by .4 percent, or $75.

This is compared to the expected industry average decline of .2 percent, or $25, relative to the two-week average.

The large pickup class, in fact, is the only segment expected to see price spikes this week.

In terms of declines for trucks, the midsize vans are expected to lead the way with an average dip of .8 percent, or $125, while the compact utility segment is expected to follow closely behind with declines around .7 percent, or $100, according to NADA UCG.

For the midssize utility segment, prices are expected to fall by .4 percent, or $75, followed by the large SUV segment which should see slight declines around 0.1 percent, or $25.

For cars, both the compact and midsize segments are each expected to decline by $75 this week.

On the highline side of the market, luxury cars are expected to decline by .2 percent, or $50, while luxury utilities are projected to decline by .3 percent, or $75.

Four- and two-week AuctionNet wholesale average prices are created by collecting all AuctionNet records for vehicles  up to five years of age for a specified period of time.  Prices are then adjusted for changes in mileage and mix.

Current week prices are based on NADA's proprietary used-vehicle value model which includes assumptions for new-vehicle prices, used-vehicle supply, gasoline prices, and other economic factors.
