McLEAN, Va. -

Dealers in the market for  large pickups to stock their lots may want to consider looking for sourcing outside of the auction. Following a recent spring trend, auction prices for large pickups are expected to increase again this week, NADA Used Car Guide predicts.

This segment is expected to continue inching upwards, rising by 0.2 percent, or $50.

This is contrary to the overall expected price movement this week, with NADA UCG predicting industry level wholesale price movement to decline by 0.6 percent or $100 relative to the two-week average.

The mid-size vans are expected to see the biggest declines over the course of this week, falling by 0.8 percent or $125, NADA UCG predicts.

Following closely behind are the mid-size cars, expected to fall by 0.8 percent or $100.

“The compact car segment is also expected to see some moderate declines over the course of the current week as prices are projected to fall by an average of 0.7 percent or $75,” NADA UCG officials reported.

Wrapping up the segment expectations, large SUVs, mid-size utilities and compact utilities are all expected to decline by 0.3 percent apiece.

As for highline vehicles, on the luxury front side of the market, luxury cars are expected to remain flat versus their two-week average while the luxury utility segment is projected to decline by a slight 0.1 percent or $25.

Four- and two-week AuctionNet wholesale average prices are created by collecting all AuctionNet records for vehicles  up to five years of age for a specified period of time. Prices are then adjusted for changes in mileage and mix.

Current week prices are based on NADA's proprietary used-vehicle value model which includes assumptions for new-vehicle prices, used-vehicle supply, gasoline prices and other economic factors.
