McLEAN, Va. -

With compact cars taking the lead with the biggest price dip, NADA Used Car Guide expects wholesale prices to continue to decline this week, falling by .6 percent, or $100, relative to the two-week average.

And only one segment is expected to see a lift in prices: midsize vans. Wholesale values for this segment are expected to grow by .3 percent, or $50.

Leading the pack in terms of price drops, the compact car segment is expected to see the biggest declines this week, falling by .9 percent, or $100.

Following closely behind should be the midsize cars, expected to see dips of .6 percent, or $75, through the remaining part of this week.

And though prices in the truck segments have remained strong this spring, bucking the industry declining average, NADA UCG said, "The recent momentum seen in large pickup truck prices is expected to slow this week," and prices are expected to remain unchanged relative to their two-week average.

For the trucks, midsize utilities are predicted to see the biggest slide, with prices falling by .5 percent, or $100.

Compact utility prices are expected to fall by .5 percent, or $75. And large SUVS "will see more mild declines compared to their smaller counterparts," falling by .2 percent, or $50, this week.

On the luxury side of the market, luxury cars are expected to decline by .2 percent, or $50, while luxury utilities are projected to decline by .1 percent, or $25.

Four- and two-week AuctionNet wholesale average prices are created by collecting all AuctionNet records for vehicles  up to five years of age for a specified period of time.  Prices are then adjusted for changes in mileage and mix.

Current week prices are based on NADA's proprietary used-vehicle value model, which includes assumptions for new-vehicle prices, used-vehicle supply, gasoline prices, and other economic factors.
