McLEAN, Va. -

Wholesale prices are expected to decline slightly this week with only one segment expected to see any appreciation.

NADA Used Car Guide is predicting auction prices to decrease by 0.3 percent or $50 this week.

Though this may seem like a mild decline, only one segment is actually expected to see any appreciation this week, according to NADA UCG; the large pickups are expected to see an increase of 0.1 percent or $25.

On the other hand, leading the declines will be the mid-size utility segment, NADA UCG said, which is expected to fall by 0.6 percent or $100.

The compact utility, luxury car, mid-size van and mid-size car segments are predicted to fall by 0.4 percent apiece.

Lastly, the compact cars, large SUVs and luxury utilities are each expected to decline by around 0.2 percent apiece.

Four- and two-week AuctionNet wholesale average prices are created by collecting all AuctionNet records for vehicles  up to five years of age for a specified period of time.  Prices are then adjusted for changes in mileage and mix.

Current week prices are based on NADA's proprietary used vehicle value model which includes assumptions for new vehicle prices, used vehicle supply, gasoline prices, and other economic factors.
