McLEAN, Va. -

Wholesale prices are projected to continue their slow slide, decreasing slightly over the course of the current week.

NADA Used Car Guide expects prices to fall by 0.2 percent, or $25, relative to the two-week average.

Only one segment is expected to see any price appreciation: the luxury car segment should gain an average of 0.2 percent, or $50, this week.

As for the segments who are predicted to see the biggest price drops this week, the midsize vans are expected to lead the pack, with decreases averaging 0.9 percent, or $125.

Compact cars and compact utilities will follow right behind, NADA UCG said, and declines should average 0.7 percent, or $75 to $100.

And though the large pickup segment has held its value well this spring and into the summer, in the past few weeks, the tides have turned.

NADA UCG forecasts that prices in this segment will decline by 0.5 percent, or $100, this week.

All remaining NADA segments are expected to decline slightly, with all forecast to dip 0.4 percent or less.

Four- and two-week AuctionNet wholesale average prices are created by collecting all AuctionNet records for vehicles  up to five years of age for a specified period of time.  Prices are then adjusted for changes in mileage and mix.

Current week prices are based on NADA's proprietary used-vehicle value model which includes assumptions for new-vehicle prices, used-vehicle supply, gasoline prices and other economic factors.
