On Tuesday morning, Auto Remarketing — sharing data provided by CNW Research — reported the metropolitan areas with the highest and lowest used-vehicle transaction prices for franchised dealers in February.

But what about independents? In which cities around the U.S. were these dealers fetching the most for their used cars?

According to CNW’s data, the No. 1 spot was the same for independents as it was for franchised dealers. However, there were some differences between the two top 10 lists.

Specifically, the 10 DMA’s were used transaction prices were highest for independents in February were as follows, according to CNW:

1. West Palm Beach-Fort Pierce, Fla.  $10,402
2. Columbus, Ga. $9,720
3. Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. $9,022
4. Baltimore $8,832
5. Springfield, Mo.  $8,635
6. Corpus Christi Texas $8,622
7. Palm Springs, Calif. $8,544
8. Jacksonville, Fla.  $8,402
9. Oklahoma City, Okla. $8,395
10. Madison, Wisc. $8,360

Conversely, the 10 areas with the lowest used-vehicle transaction prices for independents last month were as follows:

1. Sioux Falls (Mitchell), S.D. $4,809
2. Ft. Smith-Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers, Ark. $5,021
3. Sacramento-Stockton-Modesto, Calif. $5,096
4. St. Joseph, Mo. $5,307
5. Waco-Temple-Bryan, Texas $5,341
6. Sherman, Texas/Ada, Okla. $5,355
7. Chico-Redding, Calif. $5,376
8. Bluefield-Beckley-Oak Hill, W.Va. $5,380
9. Rapid City, S.D. $5,403
10. Fargo-Valley City, N.D.  $5,425
 
Overall, the average transaction price for independent dealers was $6,939, according to CNW.
