VANCOUVER, British Columbia -

Auto West Group has started building what it says will be Canada’s biggest stand-alone Mini store in addition to being among the country’s “most environmentally sustainable dealerships.”

The comprehensive revamping of the existing Mini Richmond dealership is slated to be wrapped up this summer, officials with the dealership group indicated.

The exterior of the Richmond, British Columbia, store will have operating space of more than 25,000 square feet. There will be a full-size Mini “exploding out of the showroom” with LED lights surrounding it.

The store is also expanding the existing service area, which will give it greater capacity. Additionally, the dealership is set to gain an upgraded showroom and display area. There will also be also electric vehicle charging stations at the revamped store.

“As the largest Mini theme park in Canada, this facility will offer our customers a completely unique Mini experience," stated Auto West Group founder Joachim Neumann. “In addition, we’re proud to be implementing the green technology and creating a space that is equipped for a new era in the automobile industry.”

Sharing more about the new eco-friendly features, the store’s rooftop will have 168 solar panels as a means to generate energy and offset the carbon footprint the dealership puts out.

There will also be four south-facing green walls designed to maintain cool temperatures in the summer. The dealership plans to employ an underground storage tank that is designed to retain storm water runoff for irrigating gardens, lawns and green walls. So by recycling water, the dealership aims to reduce its water consumption.
