SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

The board of directors for the National Automobile Dealers Association has elected the NADA chairman for 2014.

Chosen for the post during an election at NADA’s board meeting in Santa Barbara, Calif., was Forrest McConnell III, owner of McConnell Honda/Acura in Montgomery, Ala.

McConnell represents Alabama’s new-car dealers on NADA’s board and will become the second dealer from the state to chair the association.

“I’m truly honored. I look forward to the challenge,” said McConnell,

“Dealers are small Main Street businesses and pillars of their community,” he added. “One of the greatest challenges we face is regulations that choke small businesses in America.”

Elected to serve as vice chairman was Bill Fox, owner of Fox Dealerships in Auburn, N.Y. He  represents New York’s new-car dealers on NADA’s board.

Elected secretary was Colorado dealer Jeff Carlson and elected treasurer was Florida dealer George Nahas.

McConnell and Fox will assume their respective roles during the 2014 NADA Convention & Expo in New Orleans in January.
