SubPrime Auto Finance News has learned that Fleet Financial president Patrick Fitzgerald passed away earlier this week following a tragic cycling accident, according to a post on the company’s Facebook page.

The company indicated that Fitzgerald was involved in the accident on Aug. 21 and “peacefully passed away” five days later “surrounded by family and friends.”

The Facebook post continued with “Fleet Financial has an experienced leadership team and a solid infrastructure in place and will continue to grow and stay strong. Our team is focused and business is operating as usual.”

“Thank you very much for understanding as we support Patrick and his family during this difficult time,” the company said on Facebook.
