ATLANTA -

AutoTrader.com enjoyed a record-breaking month in February, reaching an all-time high for unique visitors, which were up 15 percent year-over-year.

The firm’s marketing campaign helped push it to a 13-percent gain in unique visitors to the core site and a 41-percent hike in mobile traffic.

What’s more, eight of the 10 strongest days of all time for AutoTrader.com traffic happened last month, including its best-ever day. For every one of those eight days, the site eclipsed a 1 million unique visitor count.

The record day was Feb. 20, which saw a unique visitor tally close to 1.1 million.

“Our goal is to connect buyers and sellers, and we are thrilled that more consumers than ever are coming to AutoTrader.com to shop for new and used vehicles,” stated AutoTrader president and chief executive officer Chip Perry.

“This is an exciting time to be in the auto industry, and we look forward to continuing to play a key role in the shopping experience and by creating exceptional value for our dealer customers,” he continued.

One of the elements in the site’s marketing campaign was its presence during the National Basketball Association’s All-Star Weekend. Other efforts included a search-engine marketing campaign and taking part in auto shows, where the company marketed its brand in late January and February at shows in Washington DC, Chicago, Philadelphia and Cleveland.

"Our marketing partnerships, like the one we enjoy with the NBA, have proven to be well timed with the momentum of improved auto sales. Millions of consumers are also exposed to the AutoTrader.com brand at many of the nations’ auto shows," said chief marketing officer Clark Wood.

What also helped push the site traffic record was the mobile traffic. According to officials, there was a record 1.7 million consumers using their mobile products to tap into the site last month.

They added that these days, typically 7 percent to 10 percent of monthly unique visitor traffic to the website is through mobile devices.

“Mobile traffic is playing an increasingly significant role in our traffic numbers as consumers download the AutoTrader.com iPhone and Android mobile apps to their smartphone devices," Wood added.
