CARY, N.C. -

Two players in the direct-to-consumer car sales space, Carvana and Beepi, made some big moves on Wednesday.

Starting with Carvana, the company entered its fourth new market in the past three weeks, launching its services in Raleigh, N.C.

Its used-vehicle delivery is now available in eight cities, which include:

  • Austin, Texas
  • Birmingham, Ala.
  • Charlotte, N.C.
  • Dallas
  • Houston
  • Nashville, Tenn.
  • Raleigh, N.C.
  • San Antonio

The Phoenix-based company also has what it calls a “vending machine” in Atlanta, where shoppers can pick up purchases in person. ‘

Carvana said in its news release that it has over $300 million in funding for continued “aggressive growth.”

As for Beepi, the company made three executive appointments:

  • Chief marketing officer: Robert Cameron, former senior vice president of global marketing at LVMH Moët Hennessy. His background also includes time with Pac Sun and Levis. Cameron co-founded Fantascope, Inc.
     
  • Chief legal officer: Scott Darling, whose background includes such companies as Trulia, Microsoft, Danger Inc., and Imperva.
     
  • Head of data science: Fei Xiao, former principal data scientist at WalmartLabs. Xiao was also an engineer at Google.
