SANTA MONICA, Calif. -

Edmunds.com revealed Thursday that it has rolled out a new feature on the site than can help connect dealers with potential used-car buyers and generate more exposure for their used inventory.

After what the company called a successful pilot, Edmunds added a used-car inventory search tool. While it helps shoppers find used cars in their respective areas and compare prices of used models, it also gives dealers another avenue to list their used cars for sale.

Vehicles can be sorted by such criteria as make and model, mileage, model year and price, as well as more precise attributes like special features, color and trim level.

Once the search criteria are selected, the results are sent to the consumer as well as the dealer’s e-mail address and phone number.

“Dealers participating in the early pilot program gave us tremendous feedback about its success, so we’re excited to open up this opportunity to all dealers across the country who are ready to support the needs of Edmunds’ in-market consumers,” stated Donna Sechrist, senior vice president at Edmunds.

“Matching up used-car shoppers with local dealers is another example of how Edmunds.com is continuing to expand the ways that buyers and car dealers can connect easily and efficiently,” she added.
