DETROIT -

In addition to being able to list their new-vehicle inventory via General Motors’ new Shop-Click-Drive tool, GM dealers can also choose to list their pre-owned inventory through this online retailing tool that the automaker took nationwide on Wednesday.

A GM spokesperson confirmed these details to Auto Remarketing today, indicating that GM dealers participating in Shop-Click-Drive can list all of their inventory on the site. This includes new, used and non-GM brands.

The pilot for Shop-Click-Drive began earlier this year and was expanded to eight states eventually. Now, Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac dealers all over the country can use this feature on their respective websites.

GM explained in its press release this morning that through this platform, consumers can choose a specific vehicle, get estimated pricing on the car and check out any incentives that are available.

They can also research and choose F&I products, apply for financing and receive information about their respective trade-ins.

Regarding the trade-in piece, a GM spokesperson explained that the consumer gets an estimated value for the trade, which is populated via third-party sites.  It is not a guaranteed price; the dealer still inspects the car.

GM received dealer and consumer feedback during the pilot phase, and based on this and a collaborative effort, the automaker has advanced the opt-in program. Now, all of its roughly 4,300 U.S. dealers can utilize the tool, which is available 24-7.

“We want to make it easier and simpler for dealers to connect with customers who are looking to combine the convenience of online shopping with the personal service of a neighborhood dealership,” said GM’s Kurt McNeil, vice president, U.S. sales operations.

“We engaged dealers to help us develop ‘Shop-Click-Drive’ to address this need,” he added.

Todd DeNooyer, general manager of DeNooyer Chevrolet in Kalamazoo, Mich., and a participant in the pilot phase, said, “’Shop-Click-Drive’ is a cutting-edge digital service that no other automaker has today. It’s been a good partnership and has given us a tool to grow our business and reach out to new customers.”
