LAS VEGAS -

At the NAAA/CAR/IARA event in Las Vegas, the National Auto Auction Association named Toyota Financial Services’ Mike Reid a Warren Young, Sr., Fellow, an honor that recognizes Reid for his commitment to the auction business.

In giving the award to Reid — who is national manager of remarketing at TFS — NAAA also made a $2,500 donation in his name to its non-profit Warren Young, Sr., Scholastic Foundation.

NAAA indicates that a Fellow is someone contributing at the $2,500 level or in or in whose honor or memory a contribution to the foundation is made in that amount.

Created in 2004 and named in honor of the late auto auction pioneer Warren Young, Sr., the foundation has raised more than $1.5 million over the past decade, awarding $40,000 in merit scholarships each year.  Including Reid, 71 people have earned distinction as a Warren Young, Sr., Fellow.

Reid is given a framed commemorative certificate, a gold medallion and a distinctive lapel pin, and will have his name engraved on a plaque listing all the Fellows, which is on display at NAAA headquarters.

“I’m proud to name Mike as a Fellow because in addition to his professional accomplishments, his willingness to serve as a speaker or panelist at many remarketing events sharing his experience and knowledge to prepare future industry leaders exemplifies the Scholastic Foundation’s mission of helping students achieve their dreams of higher education and success,” noted NAAA president Jack Neshe. “He also finds the time in his busy schedule to be an active supporter of the Rio Aquatics in his Orange County, California, community, which trains young special-needs athletes to participate in the Special Olympics.”

This was not Reid’s only recognition at the conference.

During the Industry Award Ceremonies on Thursday at the conference, he was named Consignor of the Year. State Line Auto Auction’s Jeff Barber was named Remarketer of the Year.

NAAA chief executive officer Frank Hackett took home the Industry Leadership Award.

Additionally, the International Automotive Remarketers Alliance announced their Circle of Excellence at the event, and receiving this year’s honor was Henry Stanley, president of Carolina Auto Auction and Indiana Auto Auction.
