SANTA MONICA, Calif. -

Late last week, TrueCar.com revealed its annual Performance Scorecards, announcing what it sees as the “best manufacturers and brands” for 2012.

Overall, the top manufacturers for the 2012 Annual Performance Scorecard were Subaru, Toyota and Jaguar Land Rover.

Further explaining why these brands, in particular, topped the charts, Kristen Andersson, analyst at TrueCar, told Auto Remarketing:  “Subaru, Toyota, and Jaguar Land Rover are the manufacturers that improved the most over the past year, springing from an average or below average grade last year to the top of the class.

“Manufacturers were graded across the board including brand loyalty to market share. These manufacturers scored higher in part due to increased market share and low price variance,” she added.

TrueCar noted the Performance Scorecards grade each manufacturer and brand on eight different measurements including pricing, sales, incentives, customer loyalty, market share and days in inventory data.

Manufacturers not fairing so well this time around were Suzuki, Saab and Mitsubishi.

As for the brand ratings, Audi, Scion, Land Rover, Subaru and BMW received the highest grades in 2012

The brands with the lowest grades were Suzuki, Saab and Volvo.

Andersson also mentioned that OEM scores are consistently improving, and those manufacturers on top need to keep pushing the envelope.

“All major manufacturers received a score of C or better compared to last year when Toyota fell below average.  Automakers at the top can't rest on their laurels as there is always room for improvement and the manufacturers below are fighting hard for the  top spot,” she concluded.

TrueCar also provided the following charts that outline the scores:
