Next year will be a historic one for the National Automobile Dealers Association.
Sandy Fitzgerald Angello will become the second woman to serve as NADA chair and the first in almost 20 years.
In 2008, Annette Sykora was the first woman to become chair of the trade group.
Angello, vice president and dealer operator of Pohanka Automotive Group in Salisbury, Md., was elected to chairman post this week by NADA’s board.
She will succeed #1 Cochran president and CEO Rob Cochran.
“I am truly honored to be elected as the next NADA chairman,” Angello said in a news release. “Given the current challenges facing the auto retail industry, it’s important that we continue building on our advocacy efforts and delivering results for our Main Street businesses and valued customers.

“The franchised dealer system has given me the opportunity to build a successful business, create good-paying jobs, and serve my community in many meaningful ways. As NADA chairman, I will fight to ensure that the next generation has those same opportunities.”
NADA’s board also elected Jeff Weber, president and general manager of Iowa’s Anderson-Weber Toyota in Dubuque and Toyota of Muscatine, as vice chairman.
Joe Massarelli, president of Liberty Auto City in Libertyville, Ill., will remain secretary and the board reelected Kirt Frye, president of Sunnyside Automotive Group in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, as treasurer.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as the NADA vice chairman in the coming year,” said Weber. “I take this responsibility seriously, particularly given the challenges facing our industry. I remain committed to supporting NADA’s advocacy efforts for dealers, building on the recent significant public policy successes while addressing the increasing regulatory pressures we face.
“My focus will also remain on NADA’s current customer experience project, which promotes transparency, enhances dealers’ reputations, and, most importantly, builds consumer trust. These priorities will help guide NADA’s direction in the years ahead.”
