Canadian dealership groups OpenRoad Auto, Go Auto and HGreg were honored this week for their business success.

OpenRoad and Go Auto again earned recognition among Deloitte’s 2025 Canada’s Best Managed Companies, a program that celebrates excellence in private Canadian-owned companies with revenues of $50 million or more.

Both companies are members of the program’s Platinum Club, a designation for businesses that have achieved Best Managed status for seven years or more.

For British Columbia-based OpenRoad, the recognition marks its 13th consecutive year as a Best Managed Company. In a news release, the company said the award highlights its industry-leading performance, national business practices and sustained growth.

OpenRoad, in its 25th year, owns and operates 33 dealership locations and seven collision repair centers in B.C., Ontario and the U.S. state of Washington, with more than 2,100 employees. Its nonprofit arm, OpenRoad Foundation, donated more than $466,000 to 23 charity partners in 2024.

“Earning this recognition for 13 years running is a true testament to the dedication, innovation and tenacity of our entire team,” CEO Christian Chia said. “As we look to the future, we remain focused on responsible growth, furthering our ESG commitments, and continually evolving to meet the needs of our customers and communities.

“This honor reinforces our mission to lead with purpose and help shape a more sustainable and forward-thinking automotive industry.”

Go Auto, based in Edmonton, operates 66 dealerships in six provinces and Washington.

Canada’s Best Managed Companies are selected based on leadership in the areas of strategy; culture and commitment; capabilities and innovation; and governance and financial performance.

Applicants are evaluated by an independent panel of judges with representation from program sponsors and special guests.

“Best Managed is a prestigious award that recognizes the significant and ongoing contributions within Canada’s business landscape,” said Deloitte partner Lorrie King, the program’s co-leader. “Companies such as OpenRoad Auto that attain this high standard of excellence demonstrate consistent adaptability, versatility and strategic acuity. Year after year, they thrive in a competitive, rapidly changing market and should be proud of their growth.”

HGreg earns Mercure Award for international market development

HGreg was honored at the 2025 Mercuriades Awards, organized by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Québec, receiving the Mercure Award in the EDC International Market Development category.

The company was also a finalist in the TELUS Technology Innovation category.

The award recognizes the exceptional performance of a Québec company that has implemented an export or foreign direct investment strategy leading to tangible growth in international markets.

Québec-based HGreg was selected for the strategic expansion of its activities in the U.S., particularly in Houston, where it has shown sustained growth since opening its dealership in the city in December 2023.

The dealership group operates in the three largest U.S. car markets — California, Texas and Florida.

“This recognition is a testament to the strategic vision we have been pursuing for several years: to promote our business model well beyond Québec,” HGreg president John Hairabedian said. “Today, HGrégoire has more than 48 new and pre-owned vehicle dealerships across North America and now sells more vehicles in the United States than in Québec.

“But it all started here in Québec. The lessons learned here were the springboard for our international success. The expansion of our activities represents a major step in this direction, and we intend to continue building on this momentum.”

HGreg previously won a Mercure Award in the Productivity Increase category in 2023.
