Carfax Canada is extending its reach in fighting VIN fraud.

The provider of vehicle history reports is expanding its partnership with ISB Global Services, an information services firm that serves insurance companies, to integrate Carfax’s VIN Scan capability into ISB Global’s tools.

The companies said the integration “adds an extra layer of early detection” of potential VIN fraud to protect insurers, used-car buyers and vehicle owners.

ISB Global has already been offering Carfax Canada’s vehicle history and lien reports to its customers throughout Canada. Adding VIN Scan gives insurers “essential vehicle details,” Carfax said, including history flags, fraud detection and valuation data.

“At Carfax Canada, we’re committed to providing our partners with the best possible data-driven solutions to help minimize the impacts of VIN fraud across Canada,” president Shawn Vording said. “This partnership with ISB Global puts our trusted VIN Scan capability directly into the hands of more insurers, ultimately helping them stay a step ahead of VIN fraud.”

Carfax Canada’s VIN Scan is designed to offer up-to-date data to auto insurance providers to aid in decision-making throughout a policy’s life, with an added layer of protection against potential VIN fraud.

“Our collaboration with Carfax Canada strengthens our ability to support SIU teams and underwriters through data-driven innovation,” ISB Global director of vendor and contract management Shane Thomas-Lovric said. “Together, we deliver tools that reduce fraud, improve underwriting accuracy and help insurers protect their portfolios.”
