Former ACV Auctions executive Ryan Story has joined Signal Technologies as senior vice president of operations.
The British Columbia-based exporting platform for Canadian auto dealers said Story will oversee operations and remarketing to help dealers unlock the full value of the U.S. wholesale market.
Story’s career includes nearly 20 years of experience in operations, sales and product strategy in automotive and B2B tech, the past seven with ACV. In his most recent role as ACV’s senior director of go to market, Signal said, he helped launch new products, improve pricing and grow dealer and fleet programs, playing a major role in increasing adoption, seller activity, and profitability.
“I’ve spent my career building systems that unlock value for dealers,” Story said. “What Signal is doing is more than smart — it’s long overdue. The opportunity here is enormous, the technology is one-of-a-kind and the team is moving fast. I’m thrilled to be joining at such a pivotal and exciting stage of growth.”
Signal’s vertically integrated platform is designed to help franchise and independent dealers turn used cars into high-margin exports, including trade-ins, aged units and service lane vehicles.
The company said its platform combines real-time appraisal tools, strategically located import facilities, financing, insurance and a proprietary U.S., remarketing waterfall, and said vehicles exported through the platform can generate $2,000 to $5,000 more in profit per unit than being sold locally.
“We’re solving an overlooked but massive opportunity for Canadian dealers, and doing it in a way that’s simple, scalable and data-driven,” Signal Technologies president Tane Jillings said. “Ryan’s experience leading complex GTM initiatives and building for scale is exactly what we need at this stage of accelerated growth.”
