HGreg has been in growth mode, expanding beyond its Quebec roots. And the business community has noticed.

The used-car retailer, which operates dealerships in Quebec and the U.S., was named as a finalist in the International Market Development category of the 2026 Mercuriades awards.

HGreg entered the U.S. in 2009 and has since expanded to locations throughout Florida, California, Maryland and Texas.

That includes a $50 million investment in Houston, where HGreg acquired and revamped a megacenter, purchased inventory and brought in top staff. The company said it reached sales targets and had a lower-than-industry-average turnover rate during the first year of operations.

“Being one of the 2026 Mercuriades finalists in the International Market Development category is a testament to the hard work of our teams and HGreg’s progression into new markets,” HGreg president John Hairabedian said in a news release. “This recognition highlights the strategic vision and operational discipline driving our sustained, long-term growth.”

HGreg said its North American growth is “driven by an innovative business model, strategic investments, and measurable results” and that it utilizes  “an integrated model that combines large-scale procurement, high-performance reconditioning centres, a centralized digital platform, and data analytics tools developed in Québec to optimize inventory management and tailor offerings to each local market.”

The winners will be announced at the Mercuriades gala on May 11.
