At the halfway point of 2021, the certified pre-owned market in Canada is showing some promise. 

Below is a roundup of how various automakers are faring, based on results provided to Auto Remarketing Canada.

Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. had its best-ever month with 1,477 CPO sales in June. That marked an 18.5% year-over-year increase and was more than 8% stronger than the prior record.

“These results reflect the outstanding value in the Hyundai CPO program and the expanding adoption by the Hyundai dealer network,” said Charles Plewes, manager of CPO & remarketing national sales, in emailed comments.

Subaru Canada moved 418 certified vehicles in June, compared to 479 in the same month of 2020. In the first half of 2021, Subaru sold 2,443 CPO vehicles, up from 1,717 in the same period of 2020.

Nissan sold 1,099 CPO units last month, compared to 1,042 certified sales in June 2020. Its year-to-date sales have reached 5,437 units, up from 4,945 CPO sales in the first half of 2020.

Infiniti moved 183 certified units in June, up from 176 a year ago. Through six months, Infiniti has 865 CPO sales, compared to 717 in the first half of 2020.

In emailed comments, Joel Gregory — who heads up CPO for Nissan and Infiniti in Canada — said there were, “signs of further recover as the province of Ontario slowly comes out of lockdown.” 

He added: “Dealer training will be the focus for July.”
