Northern Roads Auto Group is now the proud owner of Canada’s oldest Toyota dealership.
The Niagara Falls-based dealership group has acquired Bill’s Toyota in Fort Erie, Ontario, from the Pasincky family, which founded the business in 60 years ago, according to Performance Brokerage Services Canada, which brokered the deal.
The store opened in 1965 as Bill’s Texaco, Toyota and Isuzu, owned by Bill Pasincky, Canada’s first Toyota dealer and the only original franchisee to receive the brand’s 50 Year Award for continuous Toyota sales and service experience.
Pasincky, who came to Canada from Hungary in 1957, met a Toyota executive at the Canadian National Exhibition in 1964, saw an opportunity and signed on with the Japanese automaker, opening the franchise with five cars he paid for in cash.
“For us,” Northern Roads CEO Luciano Butera said in a news release, “this was more than a business transaction — it was about carrying forward a family’s story.”
Northern Roads now operates four dealerships in Ontario. Its new addition will continue to operate under the Bill’s Toyota name.
