In what organizers said was their “best yet,” more than 400 attendees consisting of buy-here, pay-here dealers from across the country gathered at the Bellagio in Las Vegas for the third annual BHPH United Summit.

After three days of dealer-to-dealer education, training and networking, Govinda Romero, owner of The Motory Group in Gainesville, Fla., said in a news release, “The BHPH United Summit keeps getting better and better.

“If you are in the BHPH space, the Summit is a must attend for you and your staff. It simply is the best education the BHPH industry has to offer,” continued Romero, who served on the BHPH United Dealer Advisory Board that helped craft the agenda of classes, and presented a session, “Quality over Quantity When Working the Queue.”

The education sessions were developed by that board made up of BHPH dealers of various sizes from across the country. Classes were primarily dealer-led and fell into one of four tracks:

—Sales
—Underwriting/collections
—Inventory/recon/service
—Financial and human management

And the Summit again featured an educational track for Spanish-speaking attendees that organizers said was well-attended and will continue to be incorporated into future Summits.

Each day concluded with a dealer-led open forum session, moderated by BHPH dealers and co-hosts of the Independent Dealer Podcast Luke Godwin and Jeff Watson during which dealers shared their insights into the marketplace, successes, and challenges they face in a moderated, open-dialogue setting.

Russell Moore, owner of Top Notch Used Cars in Conroe, Texas also attended and presented a session, “Things to Consider When Buying or Selling a Portfolio.” He attributed the success of the Summit to the depth and breadth of the education content geared for all employees in the dealership with a focus on dealers teaching dealers.

“The agenda was created with each dealership position in mind so dealers and their staffs could learn directly from their peers,” Moore said in the news release. “Whether it was a panel discussion or single presenter, having dealers deliver the content provided a ‘boots on the ground’ perspective and was a huge hit for the attendees.”

Event orchestrators hail from founding partners of BHPH United, including:

“This year’s BHPH United Summit was the best yet,” Auto Master Systems president Mike Downey said. “We had record attendance in terms of total attendees — more than 400 strong — as well as first-time attendees. We were thrilled with the overwhelmingly positive feedback from this year’s event, and plans are underway for next year’s Summit with even more educational opportunities for the BHPH dealer community.”

Next year’s Summit will be held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas from April 22-24.
