In just a year, Elisabeth Taylor will go from conference attendee to event roundtable moderator.
The owner/operator of iGo Motors in Columbia, Ky., will be one of the featured dealer roundtable moderators for the NIADA BHPH Dealer Forum, which is scheduled for Nov. 9-11 at the Loews Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn.
“I’m going to pick at people and get them to start talking. I have no notion that I’m qualified to be standing there, but I am excited to see people, especially the people that are quieter, contribute,” Taylor told the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association. “They’re normally like the little geniuses in the room. If I just get them talking, I think we can pick up some really great ideas from them. I’m excited.”
Taylor has been in the industry for 12 years, getting involved with nearly every part of a dealership, including service, collections and sales. She remembered last year’s NIADA BHPH Dealer Forum and how valuable the roundtable conversations were for attendees.
“It was a really robust discussion,” Taylor told NIADA. “We’re just kind of a family sitting around the table, spit balling about our greatest ideas and worst ideas. It was a really fun, engaging event.”
Taylor and the other moderators will be leading discussions on sales, inventory, reconditioning, capital, customer retention, underwriting, compliance, employee management and other hot topics during the roundtables, which will include approximately 20 dealers matched by size and operations.
“You have a room full of people where they sit around the table and they realize, ‘Oh, I am valuable and what I say matters and what I think matters, that everyone has a voice.’ That’s really kind of fun to see,” Taylor told NIADA.
Along with the popular dealer roundtables, there will be three deep-dive workshops and nine education breakout sessions.
NIADA will lead “Building Versatility into your Business Model.” The association will dive into capital availability, portfolio performance expectations, succession planning and other items to help dealers adapt their businesses to the changing used-vehicle market.
Doug Turner, senior director vehicle acquisitions and remarketing at America’s Car-Mart, will be back to lead the session, “The Heart of the Matter — Inventory Management.” Turner will guide dealers through the acquisition of vehicles to getting them to the front line.
NIADA 20 Group moderator John Dismukes will present, “All the Moving Parts to Moving More Metal.” Dismukes will give dealers actionable strategies for branding, marketing, lead generation, pricing and closing sales. The session will also cover the use of AI.
Early bird registration runs through Oct. 10, with a chance to save $200 ($495 per person for NIADA dealer members, $695 dealer non-members). Group discounts are available for dealer groups with two or more registrants.
Discounted rooms are $269 per night are available through Oct. 16 or until the room block sells out.
