Now that its annual convention has been held, the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association is turning its attention to the organization’s next events that are intended to give attendees experiences that can only be had while on location.

And those locations include Capitol Hill and successful buy-here, pay-here dealerships in Texas.

First up is the 12th annual NIADA National Policy Conference, which is set for Sept. 28-29 at the Willard InterContinental in Washington, D.C.

The two-day event brings together independent dealers and industry partners for policy briefings, regulatory updates, and direct meetings with members of Congress on the legislative issues most affecting the used-car industry.

Among the priorities set to be discussed while on Capitol Hill are the Right to Repair Act, reform of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, catalytic converter theft legislation, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

NIADA said last year’s conference drew 150 attendees who collectively held 123 meetings on Capitol Hill and raised more than $104,000 for its political action committee.

Dealer registration costs $149, with industry affiliate and sponsorship options also available.

The association added that dealers are encouraged to register by Aug. 30 to allow time for appointments to be scheduled on Capitol Hill.

Hotel rooms at the Willard are available at $359 per night using group code NDA.

Texas-sized plans in motion for NIADA BHPH Dealer Forum

They say everything is bigger in Texas and that includes what the association has in the works for the NIADA BHPH Dealer Forum, which is scheduled for Nov. 1-3 at the JW Marriott in Austin.

The event won’t be happening at just that swanky hotel. The agenda includes dealership site visits.

NIADA highlighted attendees will tour Austin-area BHPH operations, including Texas Auto Center, Third Coast Auto Group, Discovery Auto Sales, and Chacon Autos.

“It’s a behind-the-scenes look at how top dealers run their sales floors, recon, finance, collections, and service departments. No presentations, no hypotheticals — just dealers walking real stores and asking the hard questions,” NIADA said.

Beyond the site visits, the event will feature dealer-led roundtables, where attendees are matched by dealership size and business model for three hours of peer-to-peer discussion on underwriting, collections, inventory, capital access, and more.

Registration also includes breakfasts, lunches, and happy hour networking with exhibitors.

An early bird rate of $495 for NIADA members is available through Oct. 1. Groups of two or more from the same dealership can save $50 per registrant.
