Especially for independent dealers who watched professional football on television during the 1980s and 1990s, it’s highly likely that Joe Theismann appeared on their screens either as a player or broadcaster.
Operators now have the chance to see Theismann in person, as the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association revealed on Wednesday that the Super Bowl champion, Emmy-winning broadcaster, author and entrepreneur will be the keynote speaker at this year’s NIADA Convention.
Theismann plans to share his timely strategy for tackling unforeseen change with independent auto dealers, who themselves are working through changing industry forces, during the keynote address presented by CARFAX on June 24 at the NIADA Convention and Expo, which will unfold at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas.
After his keynote address, Theismann will visit with dealers and take pictures at the CARFAX booth in the expo hall.
Theismann led the Washington Redskins to a Super Bowl title in 1982. But his playing career ended after a brutal leg injury that happened in front national television audience just two years later.
Theismann quickly moved into the broadcast booth, as he worked for CBS before becoming a fixture on ESPN’s Sunday Night Football from 1988 to 2005 and then one season of Monday Night Football. He won an Emmy in 1994 for his expert game analysis.
In recent times, Theismann has worked on different shows on the NFL Network and broadcasts for Washington preseason games. He also has made several TV and movie appearances along with serving as a spokesperson for several national campaigns.
Dealers can take advantage of the early-bird registration price of $545 per person ($845 per non-member) by May 23. A discount is available for multiple registrations from the same dealer group.
Discounted rooms for $219 per night are available at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas until May 23, but the association said those rooms may sell out before that date.
