Three North Carolina residents and entrepreneurs like their place in the car business by being Byrider franchisees.
Christopher Thomas and Thomas Swigart opened their first Byrider dealership in Raleigh, N.C., in 2009 and welcomed Darcy Roessler to the team in 2015.
At the end of this month, the trio will host the grand opening of its next buy-here, pay-here location in Jacksonville, N.C. Community members are scheduled to be a part of a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate on July 30.
“Our customers don’t always have access to the same financial resources as others, which is why we’re proud to bring a new path forward to the Jacksonville community,” said Roessler, who is also a part of the ownership group with Thomas and Swigart of two franchised new-car dealerships.
“We believe in the business model — which combines used car sales, finance and service all under one roof — and the opportunity it creates to support customers along their financial journey,” Roessler continued in a news release from Byrider. “We’ve seen firsthand how Byrider can make a meaningful difference to community members seeking to own and finance a quality vehicle, and we look forward to bringing that same opportunity to drivers across Onslow County.”
The new Byrider dealership is located at 2114 N. Marine Blvd. in Jacksonville, with proximity to the Camp Lejeune Marine Base.

Byrider CEO Mike Onda is excited about what this Tar Heel State trio can do with another Byrider location in its car-business portfolio.
“Darcy, Chris and Tom are fantastic operators with extensive knowledge in the automotive industry and they excel in customer service. We’re lucky to have them on our team and leading our entry into Jacksonville,” Onda said.
“They share our commitment to providing an affordable path to car ownership, and I’m confident they will strengthen our presence while building meaningful connections across North Carolina,” Onda went on to say.
