WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J. -

The best-ever month for certified pre-owned sales capping the best-ever quarter in the CPO market. A slew of brands achieving their best certified sales in history.

Sound familiar? It should.

This trio of feats accomplished in the CPO market last month — best-ever monthly sales, best-ever quarterly sales and a double-digit number of brands with record-high certified sales — is strikingly similar to what happened in March of last year.

Apparently college basketball isn’t the only thing at its peak in March.

According to Autodata Corp., there were 190,065 CPO sales last month, which was the strongest month of all time for the certified market.

The numbers also represented a 9-percent increase from March 2012 (when the previous record was set) and marked the first time the certified market has eclipsed 190,000 sales in a month, Autodata indicated.

This closed what was the strongest quarter on record for the CPO market, as 497,647 certified units were sold in Q1. That number marked a 9.4-percent hike over the year-ago period.

(Since the quarterly record for CPO sales that was set in Q1 of 2012, there have now been two subsequent best-ever quarters: Q3 2012 and Q1 2013).

As for the brands hitting all-time CPO highs in March, Autodata listed the following as record-breakers:
