The decline in Canadian wholesale vehicle values nearly tripled last week, as average depreciation increased from 0.12% to 0.35%, according to the latest Market Insights report from Canadian Black Book.
That compares to an average 0.19% decline for the same week of 2017-2019.
Car segments slid particularly far, with prices down 0.41% for the week ending Oct. 10, compared to a 0.11% drop the prior week, CBB said.
Truck/SUV segment prices fell 0.30% after falling 0.12% the week before.
Among car segments, subcompacts were the lone increase (up 0.74% in price), with midsize cars flat and the rest down. The most significant drop was for prestige luxury cars, which fell 0.79%, according to CBB.
Two truck segments were up: the subcompact luxury crossover (up 0.07%) and full-size luxury crossover/SUV (up 0.02%).

The rest fell in price, led by the compact van (down 1.86%) and minivan (down 1.49%).
Overall, CBB said slightly less than 55% of segments had price changes exceeding $100.
“Auction inventory continues to hold at high levels, though upstream channels continue to receive priority access. Demand for high-quality vehicles remains strong on both sides of the border,” the company said in its analysis.
