AWIN Group of Dealerships has hired a former president and CEO of BMW Group Canada as its new chief operating officer.

The Vaughan, Ontario-based dealer group said earlier this month it has named Reiner Braun as its COO.

Braun was most recently the president and CEO of BMW Group Latin America, following his tenure leading BMW Canada. He joined the automaker in 1999 and served in senior sales and marketing roles throughout the Americas, Europe, Middle East and China.

“I am thrilled to be joining the AWIN team,” Braun said in a news release. “AWIN has earned the confidence of the world’s leading premium brands and manufacturers and the loyalty of customers across the Greater Toronto Area.

“Bringing more than 25 years of premium automotive leadership from Canada to China and Latin America to the team, my focus will be on building on AWIN’s strength: driving performance, strengthening the systems and processes that support continued growth and ensuring that, as we expand the customer and employee experience remains at the heart of everything we do.”

AWIN co-founder and chairman Sylvester Chuang added, “Bringing Reiner on board as COO is a decisive move for the future of AWIN. The COO role is central to the transformation we are now driving – sharpening operational performance, scaling our platform and setting the standard in Canada’s premium segment. Reiner knows this market and this business: he led BMW Group Canada as national CEO, and drove sustained growth for the brand across China and Latin America, both amongst the world’s most competitive premium markets.

“He brings the experience, discipline and international perspective to accelerate our momentum and extend AWIN’s leadership in Canadian premium automotive retail.”
