Automakers and dealerships in Canada now have another option to make their certified pre-owned vehicles stand out on history reports.

CARFAX Canada has debuted a Certified Pre-Owned badge on its vehicle history reports that is designed to help its OEM partners and their dealers “distinguish their CPO units from others in today’s competitive used-vehicle market,” the company said.

These new badges tell CARFAX Canada vehicle history report viewers the vehicle has successfully met the maintenance and condition standards required as part of the manufacturer’s CPO program, which are often more stringent than other comparable programs.

“Seeing the OEM CPO badge on our vehicle history report helps buyers feel more confident when purchasing a used vehicle, knowing that the vehicle has passed extensive reconditioning and meets the OEM’s certified pre-owned requirements,” said CARFAX Canada exeuctive Shawn Vording, who will become the company’s president on March 1, in a press release. “This new OEM CPO badging service boosts consumer trust by providing additional assurance in both the vehicle’s integrity and in the dealership they are buying from.”

The badges were launched at an event in London Ontario wit CARFAX Canada and Honda Financial Services — the first OEM to have a CPO badge on its CARFAX Canada vehicle history reports.

“Honda Financial Services is excited to feature our Honda and Acura brands on the new OEM CPO badge,” said Patrick Huibers, senior manager of the customer care group at Honda Financial Services, in the release.

“The OEM CPO badge supports our commitment to our CPO program by offering transparency, building trust with consumers, and strengthening our relationship with dealerships.”

Consumers and dealers are searching for a more transparent and efficient vehicle purchasing process when buying their next car or sourcing their inventory. Tools like the OEM CPO badge can serve to increase visibility into the vehicles’ attributes for all involved, CARFAX Canada said.

“The new OEM CPO badge is important to CARFAX Canada as it demonstrates our commitment to providing the most comprehensive vehicle history information in Canada,” CARFAX Canada director of strategic partners Richard Pasta said. “This new feature on the Vehicle History Report also aligns with our mission of empowering Canadians with insights to help make better decisions about vehicles.”
