Dealers and car shoppers have a new assistant in Canada.
CarGurus announced Monday — its 10th anniversary in the country — that it has launched Guru, an artificial intelligence car-shopping assistant designed to help consumers find the best deals while helping dealers connect with consumers.
Guru was first launched on the company’s U.S. site and further optimized.
The tool, which the company called “the next chapter of CarGurus’ decade of innovation in Canada,” is a conversational AI tool embedded into the CarGurus website, allowing shoppers to describe what they’re looking for and then receive and compare recommended vehicles.
The recommendations are generated from real-time Canadian dealer data.
“A decade ago, we set out to raise the standard for car shopping through innovations that increased transparency and trust, starting with the introduction of vehicle deal ratings, Instant Market Value (IMV) price analysis, and days-on-lot data,” CarGurus president and chief operating officer Sam Zales said in a news release.

“Now, Guru represents the next chapter of that work. Built on a decade of Canadian market data, our AI-powered innovations are helping shoppers and dealers make smarter decisions more efficiently,” Zales said.
CarGurus has tailored this iteration of the product specifically for the Canadian market, including the company’s proprietary Canadian market data and real-time listing information, along with Instant Market Value calibrated to market, millions of search and purchase signals from shoppers, and reviews/buying guides.
