Hudson Cook expanded its credit reporting, privacy, and data security practice group with a legal expert whose last position was with one of the service providers in that specific space.

This week, the law firm announced the addition of Jason Esteves as a new partner in its Washington, D.C. office. Esteves is the second partner addition to that practice group in the past nine months.

Hudson Cook highlighted that Esteves brings a wealth of experience and expertise in advising businesses on compliance with consumer protection, privacy, and cybersecurity laws. He is skilled in developing and maintaining change management and compliance programs that ensure clients proactively adhere to applicable laws and regulations. In addition to his regulatory compliance work, Jason has a proven track record of representing clients in litigation matters, government investigations, and enforcement actions.

“We are very excited to welcome Jason to the firm,” said Rebecca Kuehn, chair of Hudson Cook’s credit reporting, privacy, and data security practice group. “Jason’s business background and legal experience are a great fit for our practice areas. His addition further strengthens our commitment to providing top-tier legal services to our clients.”

Before joining Hudson Cook, Esteves served as the vice president of legal at Equifax where he played a critical role in advising the company on regulatory matters, investigations, risk mitigation, government and media relations, and cybersecurity.

“Jason brings a deep, versatile understanding of compliance, privacy, and cybersecurity laws to our team,” Hudson Cook managing partner Chuck Dodge said. “His tenure at Equifax and extensive involvement in regulatory matters, litigation, and cyber risk management inform his ability to guide clients through complex regulatory matters. We are thrilled to welcome Jason as a partner in our Washington, D.C., office, where his insights and proactive approach are a great addition to the firm.”

As Dodge referenced, Esteves also managed a wide range of litigation matters for Equifax, where he helped design and implement strategies that significantly enhanced the company’s ability to handle high-volume litigation more efficiently.

“Hudson Cook has earned a reputation as a leading law firm in the financial services industry, and I am excited to bring my experience to the team,” Esteves said. “Given the regulatory and litigation landscape today, the expertise and experience my colleagues have are needed now more than ever. I look forward to working with the talented attorneys at the firm to provide exceptional legal services to our clients.”
