REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — Wholesale prices remained at peak levels during June, according to OPENLANE, which also indicated that there were month-over-month gains in the prices of minivans and trucks, with cars and SUVs declining modestly from May.

"Overall U.S, auction prices in June held steady and ended on par with May 2010 levels, representing the highest price levels of 2010 YTD," officials noted.

Looking at individual segments, OPENLANE said there was a narrow dip in car prices during the month. This vehicle category was down 1 percentage point below its May level when the month ended.

SUVs fell one percentage point below their May pricing, as this segment remained "essentially flat."

Meanwhile, the largest upward movement was among trucks, whose prices climbed 12 percentage points month-over-month.

Also showing an increase were minivans, whose prices gained 2 percentage points.

Continuing on to examine dealer interest, minivans showed the heaviest increases. Specifically, this category moved up 21 percentage points month-over-month. Interest in the segment climbed 33 percentage points year-over-year.

Cars showed no movement from May when it came to dealer interest, but climbed 6 percentage points versus year-ago levels.

Like the car segment, SUVs were static from May. However, they dipped 12 percentage points as compared to June 2009.

Finally, dealer interest in trucks was off 8 percentage points month-over-month and down 12 percentage points from the prior-year period.
