Flexcar’s partnership with Sunoco has been in effect for more than a year now, and the month-to-month car lease company said it’s paying off for its customers.

Flexcar said its Gas Saver program has saved Flexcar members more than $170,000 at the pump, with more than 600,000 gallons filling tanks — and rising.

“At a time when everyday costs at the pump remain elevated, the Gas Saver program is delivering real relief for our members,” Flexcar vice president of marketing Jake Marston said. “In just over a year, we’ve put more than $170,000 back in their pockets, and that figure is growing fast as we expand into new markets in 2026.

“Combined with bundled insurance and maintenance, Gas Saver is part of what makes Flexcar a more affordable alternative to buying or leasing.”

Flexcar members are automatically enrolled the Gas Saver program at no additional cost, the company said — they fill up at a participating Sunoco station and receive a text confirmation of their savings, which are credited to their next monthly bill.

Since the program’s launch in December 2024, Flexcar members have fueled up at more than 2,400 Sunoco stations in 34 states. The company said the program has introduced thousands of new customers to Sunoco, with year-over-year fuel stops more than doubling from Q1 2025 to Q1 2026.

The program’s growth is being fueled in part by Flexcar’s moves into new areas and rising customer use in existing markets.

In April, the company announced the opening of two new hubs in the San Francisco Bay area, with locations in San Jose and Richmond, Calif. — its first venture west of the Mississippi — and this month it entered the New York market with a location in suburban Larchmont, N.Y.

“Bringing Flexcar to the West Coast gives Bay Area drivers a fundamentally different way to access a car, built for how people live today,” president and chief operating officer Ryan Quinlan said. “Expanding into New York marks an important milestone as we continue to scale nationally.

“We’re seeing strong and growing demand for greater flexibility and affordability compared to traditional car ownership, and this launch brings that model to one of the country’s most influential markets.”

Nationwide, the company said, Flexcar has surpassed 300 million miles driven by its customers, a milestone Quinlan said, “shows drivers are ready to move beyond the outdated model of traditional buying and leasing.”
