The National Automobile Dealers Association is looking to give dealers another opportunity to help those in need.
NADA said it will announce a national partnership Vehicles for Change on Wednesday to expand dealer participation in the nonprofit organization’s low-income car ownership program, helping provide reliable transportation to families in need nationwide.
The partnership will kick off with an event at #1 Cochran Buick GMC Monroeville in Monroeville, Pa., where the #1 Cochran dealership group will award two vehicles to local families.
NADA will also release a step-by-step playbook to give dealers across the country the information they need to participate in VFC’s program.
“America’s franchised new-car dealers have a longstanding tradition of giving back to the communities they serve,” said #1 Cochran CEO Rob Cochran, who serves as NADA chairman. “This event demonstrates the powerful impact dealers can have. And after the playbook launches, interested dealers can easily host similar events in their communities and help change lives.”
In a news release, NADA said its national partnership with Vehicles for Change program will provide with an avenue to help families facing transportation barriers gain access to dependable vehicles that support employment, childcare, healthcare and long-term economic stability.

“Reliable transportation changes everything,” Vehicles for Change chairman Andy Koblenz said. “Through this partnership, dealers across the country will have the tools and framework needed to help hardworking families access opportunity, maintain employment and build a stronger future.”
Sonic named one of America’s Most Trustworthy Companies
Sonic Automotive has been selected as the only auto retailer on Newsweek’s 2026 list of the Most Trustworthy Companies in America, a recognition the dealership group called “a powerful validation” of its “unwavering commitment to its purpose, its people and the millions of guests it serves every year.”
The list, compiled by Newsweek in collaboration with statistics portal Statista, includes 700 companies in 23 industries. The companies were chosen based on more than 100,000 evaluations received from a survey of some 25,000 American consumers, as well as social listening analysis that gathered more than 300,000 mentions.
Sonic was among 24 companies in the list’s Automotive and Components category, joining familiar brands such as Ford, General Motors, Goodyear, Cooper Tires, AutoZone, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Advance Auto Parts, Discount Tire, Safelite, Valvoline, Winnebago and Harley-Davidson — a brand associated with a strong connection to Sonic, which owns 13 Harley-Davidson dealerships.
Sonic, founded in 1966 by Bruton Smith and led now by chairman and CEO David Smith said, operates 145 locations in 21 states, including franchise stores, EchoPark used-car dealerships and powersports operations. The company said it has sold some 7 million vehicles in its 60-year history.
“This recognition from Newsweek is incredibly meaningful because it reflects something we’ve believed for six decades — trust is earned through people and purpose, not through just words,” David Smith said. “My father, Bruton Smith, built this company on the idea that if you take care of people the right way, everything else follows. Today, that belief is alive in every one of our 11,000 teammates. That’s why we’ve earned this trust, and why we will continue to earn it every day.”
In a news release, Sonic said its “singular purpose” is “to deliver an experience for our guests and our teammates that fulfills dreams, enriches lives and delivers happiness.”
“We’ve never set out to be known as a holding company,” president Jeff Dyke said. “We’ve set out to be known for how we make people feel. Whether a guest walks into one of our franchise automotive dealerships, EchoPark stores or one of our Sonic Powersports locations, the expectation is the same: exceptional, transparent and human. That consistency is what builds trust at scale, and it’s how our teammates show up every single day.”
Sonic said it will use the award as a proof point at each of its locations.
