The leader of Group 1 Automotive’s used-car operations now has an expanded role.
The retailer said Thursday that Bob Andersen has been promoted to vice president of corporate development and pre-owned operations.
Andersen’s most recent post was as Group 1’s national director of pre-owned operations.
With the expanded role, he will now also head up the company’s corporate development initiatives in the U.S., including acquisitions and dispositions.
Andersen, who joined the company in 2023, will still lead Group 1’s used-car business.
“Bob has consistently demonstrated strong leadership, sharp strategic insight, and a deep understanding of our business,” Group 1 president and CEO Daryl Kenningham said in a news release.

“His ability to work effectively across our organization and with external partners makes him well-suited to lead our corporate development efforts.”
In addition to his time at Group 1, Andersen’s experience includes multiple C-suite roles with the franchise and independent dealer community.
“Acquisitions continue to play an important role in Group 1’s long-term growth strategy,” Andersen said. “Our focus is on scaling in our existing regional markets where we can further leverage the Group 1 brand, while also evaluating new markets that bring meaningful opportunity.
“Group 1 offers sellers a strong path forward by aligning their local presence with enterprise-grade innovation and tailwinds,” he said.
